Abstract
Basketball, like other sports, is continuously progressing and evolving, thanks largely to advances in various scientific fields and scientific research aimed at achieving advanced results sought by many countries, including Iraq, at local, Arab, and international levels. Undoubtedly, the development of physical abilities in any sport depends on proper programming and planning of training curricula, which leads to the necessity of conducting regular tests. As Günter Blume pointed out, these tests serve as tools to motivate, excel, and sustain progress, providing accurate information that can be used for consistent evaluation, judgment, and guidance. The science of testing and measurement, alongside sports training and other sports sciences, is essential and must be considered when employing methods aimed at elevating performance to meet ambitions efficiently and effectively. The importance of this science lies in its ability to objectively assess physical, skill-related, tactical, functional, psychological, and educational aspects as indicators of the current state, while the complementary sciences provide the methodologies and approaches to improve and advance training processes.
